Day 10

The big day! Elli's first day at work, how exciting! The first challenge that everyone faces here in Singapore, is getting to the MRT with a minimal amount of bodily sweat dripping down your back, face, etc... Never ever wear your suit jacket walking to the MRT, given that it is close to 30 degrees by 08:00!

Anyway, challenge one faced and somewhat completed by the wife. Luckily I could wear a pair of shorts. Off we headed to get Elli her employment pass before heading into work.

Whilst Elli was doing the hard work bringing in the money, the trailing husband that I have become, went back to the place I cannot stay away from. It's an illness, I am weak...

3 vanilla latte's later it was time to meet up with Elli for lunch. Well the wife picked up a sandwich and we spent the next hour trying to open a bank account. It's funny how you forget that little practical things can take up a lot of time, but we feel that we have been able to sort out a lot of things in the first week, so I am confident that my wife will be able to survive for two months without me here. The question is how I will cope without her?

So bank account sorted, I decided to take a stroll around where Elli works and took a few snaps.

Yep I do still need to study...
As many or at least most of you know, I am a massive Manchester United fan and it is quite clear that they are massive in Asia. Just walking around town you see loads of people, from young to old wearing Man. Utd. kits...it's beautiful.

Maybank has this on their main building

After going 8 points clear, it seems the poor kids are getting bored of  Man City's faltering challenge
Having spent most of the day around Elli's office and waiting for the wife to help sort out the bank account and then having to wait for it to be set up, I went home to get ready for the nights activities. Once again, Elli's colleagues and office have been superb in including a trailing husband in the happenings. On this day we were invited to the British High Commission's house to meet the cast of an up-and-coming play called 'Out of Order'. Seems we are becoming more cultured since we have arrived here. It was a great evening and we got talking to some great people.

After a great meet-and-greet, we headed to town for a last few drinks with some of Elli's colleagues. Long first day for the wife, but she survived and did well... I am proud of you.
